Discover the Rangely Outdoor Museum

Step back in time at the Rangely Outdoor Museum, where three historic buildings showcase the rich tapestry of our region's past—from ancient dinosaurs and the mysterious Fremont culture to the hardy pioneers, ranchers, and oil field workers who shaped modern Rangely.

Wander the outdoor displays featuring impressive artifacts like an early cable rig, the relocated Wolf Canyon School, the Raven A-1 Memorial Pump Jack, Rangely’s original jail, and much more.

Inside the historic structures:

  • The 1913 School House highlights life and education through the 1940s.
  • The Chevron Camp House captures the excitement and daily life of the 1940s oil boom years.

The Chevron Recreation Hall serves as the main building, housing our gift shop, research area, oral history collection, and additional exhibits.

Admission is always free, though donations are greatly appreciated to help preserve this special place.  It's an ideal, family-friendly destination - perfect for visitors of all ages to explore, learn, and enjoy the stories of Northwestern Colorado.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Hours:  The Rangely Outdoor Museum is open June - August, Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 p.m.
