Town of Rangely Municipal Elections
Elections
The Town of Rangely municipal elections are held the first Tuesday of April on even numbered years. Voters select Council Members to serve four-year terms (two consecutive), the Mayor serves a two-year term (three-consecutive). The Mayor Pro Tem is appointed by the Council.
General municipal elections are conducted via mail ballot. Completed ballots are deposited up to and on the day of the election at the collection box until 7:00 p.m. The collection box is located at Town Hall, 209 E Main, Rangely Colorado, 81648.
Ballots are mailed to registered electors unless an absentee ballot request application is completed. You can download absentee ballot applications here or come into the Town of Rangely offices at 209 E Main for blank forms.
Registering to Vote
In order to be eligible to vote in the Municipal Election, you must be:
- A U.S. citizen.
- At least eighteen years of age.
- A resident of the Town of Rangely; and
- A resident of the State of Colorado twenty-two (22) days prior to the date of the election.

Voting Time and Location:
During an election, the mail ballot drop box is open 24 hours a day at the Town of Rangely Municipal Building, 209 E Main until 7 p.m. on the day of the election. Ballots can be mailed but must be received by election day at 7:00 pm in order to be counted.

- NOTE to Potential Candidates:
The First day that nomination petitions may be picked up and circulated is January 2, 2024 and must be returned to the Clerk by the January 22, 2024. Nomination petitions will be available at the Town of Rangely, 209 E. Main, Rangely, Co. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States of America, and have lived in the Town of Rangely for at least one year immediately preceding the election. All Candidates must be registered to vote in the Town of Rangely at least 30 days prior to the election. Please contact the Town Clerk for deadlines to submit your paperwork.
