Water - Sanitation
The Water Department is responsible for operating and maintaining the town's facilities and equipment in a manner meeting all applicable federal, state, and local standards.
These standards ensure appropriate quality and quantity of water for the Rangely community and collects and disposes of wastewater in a manner governed by further federal, state, and local standards.
This department operates 365 days a year including weekends and holidays. The town\'s facilities are designed and built to handle a population of approximately 5000 and, with some modification and expansion, up to a population of 10,000 people.
Most of the water system infrastructure is less than 20 years old and is continually upgraded. For example, in the past five years more than 35,000 feet of new pipe has been installed in the distribution system to expand or replace outdated, substandard lines and approximately $750,000 has been spent to line the wastewater lagoons with a synthetic material to protect the environment.
Utilities Department Mission Statement
The Department's mission is to provide a safe, palatable water supply and treatment process for the wastewater that is cost effective, meets the State and Federal compliances, meeting the needs of the Town and ensuring minimal disruption of services to our customers. We also have a goal to look to the future needs required for upgrades and maintaining facilities.
