Laycie Coker currently serves as the Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Rangely, having developed a strong connection to the area after spending 12 months visiting prior to her relocation. Born and raised in Mansfield, Texas, she graduated high school in 2014. She later pursued her passion for animals at Tarleton State University, studying animal science, and later obtaining a Veterinary Assistant Certification from Cedar Valley College.
Before her current role, Laycie gained valuable experience as a Hospital Manager at an Animal Emergency Hospital and worked as a Veterinary Assistant for about seven years. Dedicated to animal welfare, she volunteers weekly at the Rangely Animal Shelter, helping care for animals and facilitate their adoptions.
In her leisure time, Laycie enjoys board and card games, crocheting, reading, and archery.
- Code Enforcement Duties
The Code enforcement officer duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the class.
- Conducts onsite inspections and re-inspections, investigates health, noise, animal, public safety, property maintenance and/or nuisance code violations and recommends corrective actions to bring about compliance, determines time frames for compliance achievement, issues notices of violations and citations.
- Answers inquiries from and advises property owners, responds to citizen complaints regarding potential code violations, conducts research regarding property ownership, and applicable codes, coordinates code enforcement actions with other town departments and other governmental agencies when necessary.
- Consults with and coordinates activities with the planning department personnel, the town manager, town attorney, town department heads and other town staff. Plans and recommends code enforcement strategies and policies, develops code enforcement procedures and schedules, assists planners in preparing new municipal codes or revising existing ordinances. Maintains accurate, complete records of complaints, inspections, violations and citations, prepares periodic written reports detailing code enforcement activity and results for presentation to the planning department, town manager, and town council.
