Rangely School District Grades K-12
Serving the western half of Rio Blanco County and a small portion of Moffat County, Rangely School District RE-4 is the proud home of the Panthers. Being a Panther means embracing a commitment to excellence—a value that shines through every level of our schools and echoes across our tight-knit community.
Our district proudly serves approximately 500 bright, talented students with the support of dedicated teachers and staff. This creates an exceptional student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, fostering a safe, nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive and achieve their highest potential.
The School District actively recruits passionate educators from across the United States—teachers eager to inspire lifelong learning and empower students to become positive forces in the world. Faculty stays at the forefront of innovation through regular professional development, including in-service programs offered in partnership with Colorado Northwestern Community College, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado State University, and the Northwest Consortium for Professional Development.
Beyond outstanding teachers, a full team of caring support staff ensures students have access to top-notch transportation, modern technology, and well-maintained facilities. Parents and community members are invaluable partners, volunteering at events, cheering at athletic competitions, applauding performances in music and art, and proudly displaying Rangely Panther flags at homes and businesses throughout town.
Students enjoy a rich array of opportunities to grow academically, athletically, and creatively:
Academic Excellence — Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams, plus dual-enrollment programs that allow juniors and seniors to earn college credits through Colorado Northwestern Community College.
Athletics — Competitive junior/senior high sports teams that build teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness.
Arts and Enrichment — Vibrant programs in art, physical education, drama, and music, where students can perform, create, and showcase their talents.
Clubs and Leadership — A variety of extracurricular clubs that help students develop leadership skills, forge lasting friendships, and pursue their passions.
Being a Panther is more than a mascot—it's a point of pride embraced district-wide. While we recognize there's always room to grow, the school district is relentlessly committed to excellence, guided by their core values: high expectations, participation, safety, collaboration, accountability, and untapped potential in every student.
