Serving the western half of Rio Blanco County and a small portion of Moffat County, Rangely School District RE4 is the proud home of the Panthers. Being a Panther is all about striving for excellence, a quality that can be found at all levels of both the school district and the surrounding community.
Rangely School District enjoys 515 bright students, caring for them with 37 teachers. This establishes an ideal 14:1 student to teacher ratio, creating a learning community dedicated to high achievement and safety for all. The school district searches all across the United States for teachers willing to inspire students to become lifelong learners and positive difference makers in society. The teachers are innovative and continually looking for ways to better reach the students by participating in frequent in-service programs held through Colorado Northwestern Community College, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado State University, and the Northwest Consortium for Professional Development.
Along with great teachers, Rangely School District supports its students with many other talented and caring staff members dedicated to giving each student the best transportation, technology, and facilities possible. Parents and community members also show their support for the school district and students through volunteering at school activities, cheering on students at athletic events, applauding students at music and art exhibitions, and flying their Rangely Panther flags at businesses and homes.
Students in the Rangely School District have numerous opportunities to make the most of their experience while in school. Students looking for ways to continually challenge themselves academically are given the chance to take Advanced Placement classes and exams as well as earn college credit at Colorado Northwestern Community College through an innovative dual enrollment program. The junior and senior high schools offer several different sports teams to give students the chance to be active, learn skills, and compete at a high level. Art, P.E., drama, and music programs also give students the chance to perform and develop talent. Many other clubs give students the ability to become stronger leaders, create close friendships, and find an activity they are passionate about.
Being a Panther is something to be proud of and is taken seriously district-wide. The Rangely School District knows that it is not perfect, but it is always striving for excellence and is backed on the core values of high expectations, participation, safety, collaboration, accountability, and potential.
