Marybel Cox is a lifelong Rangely native and proud graduate of Rangely High School and Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC). She is married to her high school sweetheart, Jason Cox—also a Rangely native—and together they are raising two daughters, Kaitlyn and Isabella.

Marybel earned her Associate of Applied Science degree from CNCC in 2002. She joined the Town of Rangely team as an Accounts Payable Clerk on May 9, 2011, advanced to Treasurer in January 2019, and assumed the role of Town Clerk in June 2019. In addition to her municipal duties, she has served on the Rio Blanco Schools Federal Credit Union Board for about 12 years and currently serves as Treasurer for TREAD, the Town of Rangely’s Main Street Program.

A true lover of Rangely’s lifestyle, Marybel cherishes family time, exploring the outdoors—whether on jeep rides, floating the lazy White River, camping, or simply enjoying the vast open spaces around town. She treasures the community’s abundant outdoor opportunities, small-town charm, and sense of security that make Rangely such a special place to call home.

Duties of the Town Clerk/Treasurer

The Town Clerk provides essential administrative support to the Mayor and Board of Trustees, while also overseeing business licensing, municipal elections, and the maintenance of all public records.

The Town Treasurer manages the Town's financial operations using specialized governmental accounting software. This includes handling all receivables, payables, payroll, and the General Ledger to ensure accurate, transparent financial stewardship.
