Marybel Cox serves as the Town Clerk/Treasurer for the Town of Rangely.
Marybel is a native of Rangely having attended Rangely High School as well as Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC). She is married to her high school sweetheart, Jason Cox, who is also a native of Rangely. Marybel and Jason have two daughters, Kaitlyn and Isabella.
In 2002 Marybel graduated from CNCC with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. She began her employment with the Town of Rangely as the Accounts Payable Clerk on May 9, 2011. She became the Treasurer for the Town in January of 2019 and the Clerk in June of 2019. She has served on the Rio Blanco Schools Federal Credit Union Board for approximately 12 years. She also serves as the Treasurer for TREAD, which is the Town of Rangely’s Main Street Program.
Marybel loves to spend time with her family going on jeep rides, floating the lazy White River, camping and enjoying the wide-open spaces surrounding Rangely. She loves Rangely, the great outdoor activities that are available around town and the small town feel and security Rangely provides.
- Duties of the Town Clerk/Treasurer
The Town Clerk provides administrative assistance to the Mayor and Board of Trustees. The Town Clerk is also responsible for overseeing business licensing, elections and maintaining public records.
The Town Treasurer is responsible for all financial matters of the Town utilizing governmental financial software to manage and document all accounting matters. The Town Treasurer is responsible for overseeing all accounting of receivables, payables, payroll and the General Ledger.
